DOCTORAL SCHOOL

The Eurasian Curlew Numenius Arquata is a charismatic bird species which population is declining rapidly across its European range. Efforts are being taken in many countries to stop this negative trend. On February 9-11, over 100 people from all over Europe (United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Finland) engaged in the conservation of this species gathered in King's Lynn, United Kingdom.

On January 27, 2024, a doctoral student in biological sciences, Pawel Ciesluk, M.Sc., organized and led an ornithological excursion in Ostrow Mazowiecki, as part of the nationwide Winter Bird Count campaign. During the tour, 325 bird specimens, representing 13 species, were counted.

The scientific journal Agronomy Science, published by the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, has published a scientific article entitled The number of weeds and their species composition in potato cultivation after the application of herbicide and biostimulants, co-authored by M.Sc. Lukasz Domanski, a doctoral student of the UwS Doctoral School in the discipline of agriculture and horticulture.

On January 13, 2024, doctoral students in biological sciences Pawel Ciesluk, M.Sc. and Przemysław Obłoza, M.Sc. participated in the nationwide Winter Waterbird Monitoring campaign.
