On January 14, 2023, doctoral students in biological sciences Pawel Ciesluk, M.Sc. and Przemysław Obłoza, M.Sc. participated in the countrywide Winter Waterbird Monitoring campaign.
Monitoring of Wintering Waterbirds (International Waterbird Census) has been carried out in Europe since the mid-1960s. In Poland, the action has been included in the system of the State Environmental Monitoring (https://www.google.com/url?q=https://monitoringptakow.gios.gov.pl/srodladzie.html&source=gmail&ust=1675795210638000&usg=AOvVaw1ceI3YB9R4ep7GXH3fHdzf">https://monitoringptakow.gios.gov.pl/srodladzie.html), implemented (by order of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection) by the Polish Society for the Protection of Birds (OTOP). The monitoring collects data from the most important parts of Polish rivers and reservoirs.
