On November 18, 2022, doctoral students of the Siedlce University Doctoral School in the discipline of agriculture and horticulture participated in a scientific and research trip to the Instytut Ogrodnictwa – PIB (The National Institute of Horticultural Research) in Skierniewice.

The trip was attended by: dr hab. Jacek Sosnowski, a university professor - Dean of the Faculty of Agrobioengineering and Animal Sciences, dr hab. Krzysztof Pakuła, a university professor - Deputy Director of the Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture, Prof. dr hab. Wanda Wadas, Ph.D. - Member of the Scientific Council of the The National Institute of Horticultural Research, doctoral students of the Siedlce University Doctoral School Katarzyna Jarecka, M.Sc., Urszula Ostaszewska, M.Sc., Adam Matyszczak, M.Sc, Łukasz Domański, M.Sc., Rafał Toczko, M.Sc., and Karol Remiszewski, M.Sc. and students  of the Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture.

Instytut Ogrodnictwa – PIB (The National Institute of Horticultural Research) was established on January 1, 2011 by decree of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development by merging two scientific institutes with a long tradition and rich scientific achievements: Szczepan Pieniążek Institute of Pomology and Floriculture and Emil Chroboczek Institute of Vegetables. Instytut Ogrodnictwa – PIB (The National Institute of Horticultural Research) is not only the largest center of horticultural science in Poland, but also a European center for horticultural research. It carries out research in vegetable growing, fruit growing, ornamental plants and beekeeping. The students visited the Institute's innovative research and development centers - the Horticultural Products Processing Center and the Regional Center for Horticultural Biodiversity, and became acquainted with the research infrastructure and research conducted at the Department of Horticultural Plant Cultivation and Fertilization, the Department of Microbiology and Rhizosphere, the Department of Fruit and Vegetable Storage and Processing, and the Laboratory of Genetics and Breeding of Ornamental Plants. The students' visit to the Instytut Ogrodnictwa – PIB (The National Institute of Horticultural Research) ended with a meeting with the director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Dorota Konopacka, and the deputy director for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Stanisław Kaniszewski, and a tour of the Primate's Palace, built in 1610-1619, which is the headquarters of the Institute's Directorate.

The scientific and research trip expanded the knowledge and competence of doctoral students in the field of agricultural sciences.
